ABOUT DR OMER

Dr Omer Batin Gozubuyuk is a Specialist Sports and Exercise Medicine Physician (FACSEP) with extensive international and Australian experience in the diagnosis and management of sports injuries, musculoskeletal conditions, and sports-related concussion.

Originally trained in Turkey, Dr Gozubuyuk completed his specialist training in Sports and Exercise Medicine between 2011 and 2016. He subsequently worked as a Staff Specialist at Istanbul University from 2016 to 2019 before relocating to Australia. In 2019, he fulfilled all requirements for specialist recognition in Australia and was awarded Fellowship of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (FACSEP).

Dr Gozubuyuk has many years of experience in concussion diagnosis and management, developed through his work in professional and elite sporting environments. During his time working with professional football teams and national programs, he was responsible for the medical assessment and management of athletes with head injuries, including acute diagnosis, monitoring of symptoms, and guiding safe return-to-play decisions.

At Ringwood Sports Medicine and the Melbourne Sports Concussion Clinic, Dr Gozubuyuk plays an important role in delivering high-quality concussion care for both athletes and the wider community. He works closely with physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists to guide patients through the full concussion pathway—from initial medical assessment and diagnosis through to structured rehabilitation and safe return to sport, work, and school. His approach aligns with the latest international concussion consensus statements and Australian concussion management guidelines, ensuring patients receive evidence-based care.

Dr Gozubuyuk strongly believes that exercise-based rehabilitation is the cornerstone of treatment for many sports and musculoskeletal conditions. He values a collaborative, team-based approach to care and enjoys working alongside highly skilled physiotherapists and allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive treatment plans for both professional athletes and recreationally active individuals.
