ABOUT MEGAN

Megan Roy – APA Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist

Megan Roy is a highly experienced APA Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist and Clinical Concussion Lead at Ringwood Sports Medicine (RSM), recognised for her extensive work with elite athletes across multiple sporting codes.

Holding a Master’s in Sports Physiotherapy, Megan combines deep clinical expertise with a strong focus on concussion assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation.

Megan has worked extensively across elite and professional sport, including roles with the Australian Women’s Cricket Team, Cricket Victoria, and the Melbourne Stars WBBL team. Her work in professional sport has provided significant experience in the recognition and management of sports-related concussion, from acute sideline assessment through to structured rehabilitation and safe return-to-play decision making.

Her experience also extends to Tennis Australia, where she worked with athletes at both junior and Grand Slam level tournaments, including the Australian Open. Across these environments Megan has supported athletes with injury management, concussion care, and performance preparation at the highest levels of sport.

At Ringwood Sports Medicine, Megan plays a key leadership role in the clinic’s concussion management and rehabilitation pathways. As Clinical Concussion Lead, she is responsible for guiding best-practice concussion care, ensuring that RSM’s assessment and rehabilitation protocols align with the latest Australian Government concussion position statements and return-to-sport guidelines. Megan works closely with athletes, parents, coaches, and medical practitioners to ensure safe and evidence-based recovery from concussion for both elite athletes and members of the general community.

Megan has developed extensive expertise in the management of persistent post-concussion symptoms, including prolonged headaches, dizziness, cognitive symptoms, anxiety, and exercise intolerance that can occur following concussion. Her approach focuses on individualised rehabilitation programs, combining progressive exercise, symptom management strategies, and coordinated multidisciplinary care when required.

Megan’s physiotherapy career was inspired by her own background as a competitive gymnast. After receiving physiotherapy as a young athlete, she went on to coach Women’s Artistic Gymnastics before pursuing physiotherapy professionally. This experience gives her a strong understanding of the physical and psychological demands placed on athletes at all levels of sport.

Throughout her career Megan has worked across a wide variety of sporting organisations and teams including:

  • Cricket – State and National teams

  • Tennis – Junior circuit and Grand Slam level tournaments

  • Basketball – WNBL, SEABL and state teams

  • AFL – Hawthorn Football Club, EFL and TAC Cup programs

  • Gymnastics – AIS and Gymnastics Victoria programs

  • Paralympic and Commonwealth Games programs – including Table Tennis, Badminton, Boxing and Squash

Beyond elite sport, Megan is passionate about helping everyday patients recover from concussion and return safely to work, school, sport, and daily life. She is committed to delivering evidence-based concussion care for athletes, children, and adults within the broader community.

Megan brings a compassionate, structured, and highly experienced approach to physiotherapy—helping patients recover, rebuild confidence, and safely return to the activities they love.
